Responsible for R&D and general integration management
‧ Received 11th National Invention Award (11屆(2002年)國家發明獎個人獎) owing to contribution in novel neutron / proton applications in semiconductor industry (中子與質子在半導體工業上的新應用)

ERSO (工研院電子所), Chutung, Taiwan           (1995 – 2000)
Research ScientistResponsible for exploratory research (前瞻研究)
  1. Received 2000 ITRI Research Achievement Award (2000年工研院研究成就獎個人獎)
  2. Invented a location-selective and depth-precise on-chip isolation method for mixed-signal (數位--類比) ICs and RF ICs (eventually for Si MMICs) (1997-, with dedicated assistance from Institute of Nuclear Energy Research (原能會核研所), Lungtan, Taiwan)
  3. Created alternative SOI (silicon-on-insulator) wafers and high-Q spiral inductors on Si (1998)
  4. Invented deep vertical doping (> 4,000 micron thickness) on Si by proton transmutation (for making deep conducting paths within Si, and producing porous Si, deep oxidation, deep etching, and hence high-Q RF components, low-loss transmission-lines, and many new MEMS structures) (1999)
  5. Semiconductor Neutron Application Project Leader (1996-7, 半導體中子應用計畫主持人)
  6. Developed neutron-transmutation-doped Czochralski type silicon prime wafers (中子質化柴式矽晶圓), and produced commercial embedded-SRAM products with > 93% yield through TSMC fab, and sold to US, Korea
Technical Consultant (委任技術顧問) of INER
Giving advice to Director of INER (原能會核研所) on new nuclear reactor technology  development
Influenced and altered the main design of TRR-II nuclear reactor toward the direction of practical applications in the semiconductor field (1996-97)

MIT, Cambridge, MA, USA                           (1987-1995)
Research Fellow
Performing computer simulations on fusion-plasma-confining large superconductor magnets and radioactive chemical reactions
‧ Analyzed the remediation process of US Hanford Site nuclear-chemical wastes (1993-95, as post-doctoral research fellow at MIT Nuclear Engineering Dept.)
‧Conducted supercritical helium cooling model construction and simulations of superconducting magnetic coils for TPX and ITER fusion tokamaks (1992-95, as post-doctoral associate at MIT Plasma Fusion Center)
Research Assistant
Conducting ionospheric plasma physics research / experiments & signal processing
‧   Discovered non-Rayleigh type radar echo dynamics in F region of earth’s ionosphere (電離層) at Arecibo, Puerto Rico (1989, leading to further debates between weak turbulence theory and plasma soliton theory)
‧ Theorized the explosive spread F phenomena in the ionosphere near earth’s equator (1988)
