● Research
Scientist:Responsible for exploratory
research (前瞻研究)
- Received 2000 ITRI Research Achievement Award (2000年工研院研究成就獎個人獎)
- Invented a location-selective and depth-precise on-chip isolation method for mixed-signal (數位--類比) ICs and RF ICs (eventually for Si MMICs) (1997-, with dedicated assistance from Institute of Nuclear Energy Research (原能會核研所), Lungtan, Taiwan)
- Created alternative SOI (silicon-on-insulator) wafers and high-Q spiral inductors on Si (1998)
- Invented deep vertical doping (> 4,000 micron thickness) on Si by proton transmutation (for making deep conducting paths within Si, and producing porous Si, deep oxidation, deep etching, and hence high-Q RF components, low-loss transmission-lines, and many new MEMS structures) (1999)
- Semiconductor Neutron Application Project Leader (1996-7, 半導體中子應用計畫主持人)
- Developed neutron-transmutation-doped Czochralski type silicon prime wafers (中子質化柴式矽晶圓), and produced commercial embedded-SRAM products with > 93% yield through TSMC fab, and sold to US, Korea
